The Sunday Currently, #29

Keeping the Sunday Currently short and sweet this week.  Happy early Memorial Day! :)

Currently:

Reading- This inspiring article that tells us it’s ok to be perfectly content with where you are in life.

Writing– Our grocery list.  Charles and I are making a conscious effort this week to not eat processed and extra sugary foods.  And no alcohol (eek!!).

Thinking– About how badly I want to shop, but really don’t need to spend any money.  #homeownerproblems.  There’s still time for you to hit the sales though…find them here!

Wishing– I was rich enough to buy this iconic Kennedy home that’s for sale.

Loving– This quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.  As a true southerner, I can’t stress enough how much manners matter!

Wanting– This book. I love Myquillyn’s blog, especially her post on sharing the imperfections!

Nester

Feeling– Oh so grateful for one more day off this weekend!

The Sunday Currently, #28

Happy Sunday to you!  I hope your weekend is going well.  We are heading back home after a much-needed long weekend at the beach with great friends. A little antiquing, a lot of sunscreen, and plenty of booze was just what the doctor ordered! :)

Currently:

ReadingThis post on the importance of soaking up your Sundays.  On the same note, I loved this article about getting the most out of your weekends.

Thinking– How much I love this blog that I discovered through the SITS Girls.  What they can do with salvaged furniture is pretty much the best ever.  I’m especially loving this bar cart.

Wishing– It was next weekend already! It’s a very special one…we are getting my pup back after her stint of living with “the grandparents.” We couldn’t have her in our old apartment, and then we’ve been in a construction zone for the last year, but next weekend she becomes ours again and I can’t wait!!

Elby

Hoping– You won’t mind a few changes I’m making on the blog.  You may have noticed a couple of ads in the sidebar, and a new “Affiliates” page in my menu. Don’t worry, I’m not quitting my day job…but I figured if I could make a buck or two while doing something I love, why not? It shouldn’t affect your daily reading in any way, but please let me know if it does! It’s all trial and error around here.

Wearing– My new flip flops from Old Navy.  My favorites broke last week, so I snagged these which, for the price, are pretty fabulous. And who doesn’t love tortoise anything?!

LovingThese tips on how to sound smart at a party of interior designers.  I seriously need this.

Wanting– To make this cake! Wouldn’t it be so cute for a birthday party or baby shower?

Feeling– Nauseous just looking at this.  Seriously, that video freaks me out.

Clicking– These 10 things you “must” have in your home. We really need a headboard…

Happy Mother’s Day, lovelies!

Isn’t my mom beautiful?!

I feel so fortunate that Charles and I live close enough to both of our moms and can celebrate with each of them today.  We’re heading to brunch in Raleigh now with my family, and then we’ll do dinner back at our house with Charles’ family tonight.  I’m sure someday we’ll get tired of not splitting holidays and trying to do it all, but for now, I love it!!

Currently:

Reading– These DIY lessons from mom.

Thinking– How fun these would be to make.

Deliciously Organized Gold Leaf Seahorse

Wishing– A very happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, but especially to my several pregnant friends.  Enjoy this special day, knowing that next year you’ll have a little bundle (or two) in your arms!

Hoping– That those that want to follow the blog via email are able to do so.  I thought it was just my blog having trouble, but I’ve been reading all over the internet that bloggers are having trouble with their subscriptions. You can follow me by clicking here, but I would also suggest that you subscribe to Bloglovin’.  It’s a great way to keep up with all of your favorite blogs in one place!

Wearing– My Sunday best for Mother’s Day brunch!

Loving– This color combo.

Wanting– One of these.

Needing– To see this place in person.  And I thought our project was big!

Feeling– Beyond blessed to have both my mom and mom-in-law in my life.  I don’t know what I would do without either of them!!

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope your weekend is going well.  Tomorrow I’ll resume the Room by Room Recap series with a breakdown of our work in the den.  But for now, here’s what I’m up to…

Currently:

Reading– This Mother’s Day gift guide. It’s only 2 weeks away! And as always, Martha knows best.

Thinking– How much I love designer Blair Harris’ aesthetics.  I’m especially crushing on this townhouse and this apartment!

blair harris

Wishing– All the best to our best friends and cousins Mary and Michael who are having a baby! I can’t wait to meet the little nugget!!

Hoping– To someday convert our pretty large attic space into something like one of these. A craft room? A movie theater? A playroom/bonus room? The possibilities really are endless!

Wearing– My Jack Rogers flip flops. I’m so happy that the weather has warmed up and I can sport my faves.  (Bonus: I got a pedicure this week…the first since my surgery in September!)

Loving– This plantation house restoration in Mississippi.

Mississippi-1

Wanting– Y’all to check out this hilarious Instagram account.  My 13 year old self is in love!

Needing– Ha! Where do I begin?! Drapes, lamp shades, a mirror for our master bathroom, lighting for our master closet, glass for our shower.  But the most necessary item: BLINDS! Getting dressed in dark corners is not ideal, to say the least.

Feeling– Excited that a lot of our overgrown trees and bushes were cut out last week.  Our yard feels twice as big now! I’ve got big plans for our outdoor space. You can see some of my inspiration here. (PS- sorry to our neighbors for the eye sore of what looks like a jungle along the street. Pickup is tomorrow!)

Clicking– These tips on creating an outdoor room on a budget.  Summer time (and porch sitting time) is coming!!

And in case you missed it this week…

  1. Random things happening lately
  2. A master bathroom update
  3. My first in the Room by Room Recap series: the formal living room

Have a super week! :)

The Sunday Currently, #25

Oopsie! I got a little busy yesterday and forgot it was Sunday! Charles and I worked non-stop at the house all weekend to get it ready for our appraisal this afternoon.  Fingers crossed that it goes well!!

Currently:

Reading– These 8 ways to spruce up the front of your home on a budget.  I can’t wait to do a few of these to our house! Check out our curb appeal transformation here, and weigh in on what color we should paint our front doors here.

Thinking– How exhausted I am. My eyes won’t stay open, and every muscle in my body hurts!

Wishing– The pollen would go away. It’s so gross and it makes everyone feel bad.

Hoping– You will consult this chart before leaving your house in leggings (NOT pants).  I have to admit I’m guilty of wearing yoga pants out though.  Oops!

AmIWearingPants_web

Loving– The master bath and closet that John and Sherry from Young House Love designed for their show house.  I’m especially digging those built ins in the closet.  Swoon!

SHMBath-Main SHCloset-Mens-Side

Wanting– This ceiling lamp for our master closet.

NeedingThis book.  You can see my other favorite coffee table books here.

Feeling– Super excited and very grateful that my oh so generous parents gave us their barely used king size bed for the house!! It is soooooo comfy! My poor dad has a terrible back, and the bed just wasn’t working for him, so like any good parents they passed it on. :)

Clicking– This roundup of gorgeous homes for sale.  Of course the foursquare is my favorite (I’m a little bias), but I  also love New York Colonial and Victorian in San Francisco.

Hop on over to Lauren’s blog to catch up with her and other bloggers. Have an excellent week, and stay tuned for some big updates coming up! :)

The Sunday Currently, #24

Happy Sunday! Thanks to a “man trip” that our husbands are on, Mary and I have had a total weekend sleepover, and it’s been so fun!  What are you up to this weekend?

Currently:

Reading– Peter Dunham’s guide to shopping at a flea market. If you’d like to read a few of my tips for shopping for vintage home decor, click here.

Writing– A thank you note to this exceptionally generous reader. This kind gift made my heart full.

Thinking– How much I love my new iPhone 5s! Last week I was debating the purchase, but I caved on Tuesday and made the switch.  And of course I got it in my favorite color…GOLD!

Wishing– You would all go read Taylor’s very honest bragging session. Her sarcasm speaks to me.

Daily Tay

Hoping– My rug from One Kings Lane arrives soon.  I ordered it a few weeks ago and it has finally shipped! I can’t wait to see it!

Loving– My new April desktop wallpaper.  It’s so cheery! In the same category, I’m also loving this, this, and this.

April_calendar_1680x1050

Wanting– A new spring wardrobe. I’ve been looking for some affordable tunics but haven’t really had any luck.  Of course I love this and this, but they are out of my price range! (Remember that little tiny house project we’re spending all our money on?)  Any tips on where to shop (besides Anthropologie)?

Needing– To tell everyone in the whole wide world the 3 of you who read this that my husband is pretty much the most awesome person ever.  He PASSED THE NC BAR EXAM while working 50+ hours a week and restoring a super duper old house.  He has worked incredibly hard and I’m so so proud of him!!

IMG_32991

Feeling– Disappointed by this article about a world famous interior designer who has let his beautiful and historic Connecticut home fall into such a state of disrepair.

Clicking–  This quiz.  Which interior designer are you most like?  I surprisingly got Emily Henderson.  While I love her style and read her blog almost daily, I wouldn’t say we share similar tastes.  Then again, she didn’t even get herself, so who knows?!

Hop on over to Lauren’s blog to catch up with the other Currently’s!

And in case you missed it, I posted some pretty major updates last week.  You can find them here and here.  You can also follow along on Instagram for a peek at fun finds and moments!

Have a fabulous week! :)
