This Week’s Links

Happy Sunday Funday, my friends!  I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend so far.  Did you know it’s National Drink Beer Day?  Yep, sure is. There’s your excuse. Now sit back, relax, pop open a cold one, and enjoy these fun links from around the web this week…

I loved this quick, easy, and cheap fall centerpiece tutorial.

No one loves quotes more than me. Trust me. But what happens when you take inspirational quotes a little too literal?

This beauty routine post made my day.  Because we all look like our head shots when we roll out of bed…

An update on all the “Save This House” properties from 2013. And while we’re on the subject, check out these amazing historic home before and afters!

Seems like everyone’s all about having babies these days. Check out what these famous childless women had to say.

I recently discovered Kapito Muller Interiors (thanks to Sue!) and I’m completely smitten. I’ve been stalking their Pinterest for days now.

Our Fall Bucket List For The Home

When it officially turned to fall on Tuesday, it was like a mental switch went off within me.  Immediately, my mood changed and I had a brighter outlook on just about everything.  Fall has always had the ability to do that to me…just one of the many reasons it’s my favorite season.

Fall Bucket List - 702parkproject

Just like I did at the beginning of the summer, I thought I’d create a fall bucket list for our house.  But first, let me catch you up on what’s happened with our summer list since the last update.

  1. Paint the front porch
  2. Paint the back porches and stairs
  3. Paint the master bathroom
  4. Paint the master vanity and add hardware and a mirror
  5. Install glass in the master shower
  6. Install new overhead lights in the master bathroom and closet
  7. Paint the dining room
  8. Rearrange the formal living room furniture
  9. Paint the side door and back door red to match the front door
  10. Switch out the lights in the office bathroom to match the den bathroom
  11. Install blinds (at least in our master bathroom and in the front rooms)
  12. Unpack, unpack, unpack so we can have the bear room back (we’ve made a little dent in unpacking)
  13. Hang art, pictures, etc. on the walls
  14. Install cabinets and/or shelves in the laundry room
  15. Set up the newly-stabilized garage to be a work space/studio
  16. Do some landscaping
  17. Repair/replace the back yard fence where necessary

So, we didn’t get through all of it, but I think we had a pretty good run.  The fall list is much shorter, as we have decided to chill out for a while and save up a little more before tackling anything really big.

  1. Paint the back porches and stairs.
  2. Paint the side and back doors to match the front door.
  3. Unpack, unpack, unpack so we can have the bear room back.
  4. Install cabinets and/or shelves in the laundry room.
  5. Set up the newly-stabilized garage to be a work space/studio.
  6. Do more landscaping.

What’s on your bucket list this fall?

Master Bathroom Sources

It must be master bathroom week around here!

source list - 702 park project

Last week I revealed our master bathroom to you, and yesterday I took you through the steps we took to get it there.  I’ve had a lot of questions about sources, so today I thought I would share those with  you.  As you can see, we saved and splurged on different items to pull this room together.

Last week I revealed the “after” shots of our master bathroom.  We have done a lot of work and made a lot of changes to our historic home, but this bathroom is by far the biggest change. At one time, part of the upstairs of the house was a separate apartment.  Our master bedroom was the living room, our office was the bedroom, and our new master bathroom was the kitchen.  In houses as old as ours, you virtually never get big bathrooms and big closets.  But since we knew this would be our forever home, and we really had no need for a kitchen upstairs, we decided to go all out and completely rethink the space. Here’s a drawing of our blank slate. blank
