Finishing Touches on the Master Bathroom

If you tuned in for the blog hop yesterday, you got a sneak peek of our updated bathroom vanity. It’s been a while since I shared our master bathroom renovation; it seems like we’ve had this room 90% finished for so long, and we just finally pulled it together about a week ago.

First, we finally put on that vanity hardware we’ve had for months. I love the way that this bathroom brings modern and traditional together, and the hardware definitely leans towards the modern.

Another one of those “we’ve had this for months but haven’t done anything with it” items is the overhead light. Charles picked this out a few months back because it matched our vanity lighting and we just wanted the room completed, but I’ve stalled because I’m honestly not that crazy about it.

I admit that it looks a hundred times better than I had planned (and it’s WAY better than this), but I still see this one as an interim fixture. Eventually I’d like something more like this or this.

We also added some towel hooks. It’s exciting, I know.

Charles also installed a new rain shower head. Well, new to this house. It was one that we had in our first apartment after we got married. It’s nice to finally hop in the shower and not be cold on whichever side wasn’t directly under the water.

This last update probably seems pretty silly, but I’m in love with our new bathtub caddy tray. I’ve never been a huge bath person, but I got some bath bombs for Christmas and figured I’d give it a shot. I’ve been converted! I mean, there’s even a wine glass holder on this thing. How could I not love it?!

It’s crazy to think that when I browse my bathroom board on Pinterest, I’m reminded of our bathroom in many of the photos. I still have to pinch myself every now and then…sometimes it’s hard to believe we actually get to live here. We are so blessed.

Alright, enough with the mush. What do you think?!

  1. “…Sometimes it’s hard to believe we actually get to live here. We are so blessed.” What a great outlook! My husband and I have been loving, living, and renovating our 110 year old cottage for the past 7 years. At times the progress is slooooow, and it is easy to get caught up in what isn’t done. Then I look around and realize we have come so far and I also feel blessed to be the main character in this chapter of the house’s story!

  2. They make beautiful hanging crystals you can buy for that light and it will really dress it up…just a thought! All very nice!!!

    1. Thanks, Laura! Bathroom renovations take a lot of work, but they are so worth it! Good luck with yours! :)

    1. Thanks, Erica! The mirrors came from Kirkland’s and were just $30 each! Can you believe it?! :)

    1. Hi Phillius! Luckily our ceilings are very high, so we don’t have the danger of low hanging towels. The lowest hook is actually about 5 feet off the ground. Thanks for stopping by! :)

  4. Your bathroom looks really nice, almost regal. I hope you have been enjoying the 100% finish as much as you did the 90% you kept it on. My favorite part is probably that the tile from the ground bleeds so nicely into the shower walls. Good job on the finished product, and thanks for sharing!

  5. Sarah, the finishing touches that were done on your bathroom looks amazing. For me, it does remind me about doing a bathroom renovation for my son’s bathroom. It’s one that my wife has suggested that I start doing because of how worn out and dirty the shower area is has become.

  6. The tile in the tub is probably my favorite part of your renovation. The bath and caddy are also really cute. I could totally see myself just relaxing in a hot bath and enjoying a job well done, the instant you declared your renovation complete.

  7. My mom and dad are working on their bathroom and have come a long ways. Right now they are trying to find some good points that can help them plan out the rest of it. This helped a ton and I hope that I can learn more about it.

  8. Wow Amazing post!!! Your bathroom looks gorgeous! I especially love that tub!!Your post will surely help people on how to manage their bathroom. Thanks for the amazing post!

  10. Hi Sarah,

    Hope you are doing great!

Really like your master bathroom pictures. I also want to mention that your bathtub is pretty awesome. Bathroom remodeling is quite a daunting task if you do it on your own. When I was in the process of bathroom remodeling then we ( me and my husband) hired a professional remodeling contractor who helped us a lot.

  12. You have a great looking bathroom here. I really like the idea of having a rain shower head put in my bathroom too! You are right, it’s annoying when half your body is cold and half is warm under the water.

  13. Hey!

  15. Your bathroom remodel looks great! and I think the vanity lighting really ties in well with the rest of the bathroom! I also never thought about getting a rain shower head until now, because I too don’t like being cold when half my body isn’t in the water!

  20. There are a significant number of things to consider when renovating a bathroom in your condo. You may want to drastically change the paint to give things a new look, for example. A fresh coat of paint is a common way to freshen up the bathing space. The replacement of old flooring or countertops will also change the feel significantly.

  21. When it comes to bathroom renovation, you do have many options available to you, but just as many restrictions when working within a condo. Hiring an experienced bathroom renovation contractor will make the process much more straightforward and ensure you don’t make any costly mistakes.

  22. There are a significant number of things to consider when renovating a bathroom in your condo. You may want to drastically change the paint to give things a new look, for example. A fresh coat of paint is a common way to freshen up the bathing space.

  23. No matter whether your condo is in a high-rise or a single-family home, the bathtub always presents an issue. When renovating, always think about the bath. You may want to replace it or combine it with the shower, or, we see many people who want to opt for the trendy free-standing tubs.

  24. One issue that every condo faces in every room is storage, and the bathroom is no exception. Old bathroom spaces often leave a minimal amount of storage space in their design; if you are renovating, use it as an opportunity to implement larger and smarter storage options.

  25. No matter whether your condo is in a high-rise or a single-family home, the bathtub always presents an issue. When renovating, always think about the bath. You may want to replace it or combine it with the shower, or, we see many people who want to opt for the trendy free-standing tubs.

  26. In most cases when people are considering a condo bathroom renovation, they are looking to make old condominium bathrooms more modern. This can be easily done by changing the fixtures around the bathroom and re-working the theme by replacing faucets and racks with something more luxurious.

  27. Bathroom renovation is far from a DIY job as professionals will be required to install flooring, fixtures, and plumbing properly. You will likely be given time restrictions from the Condo Board, so there is no room to “learn as you go.”

  28. Your bathroom may be small, and the right lighting can help to change the mood of your bathroom to appear lighter and brighter. Lights that create a soft white glow create a spa-style ambiance.

You can even have fun with different lighting fixtures and add a dimmer option to help set a relaxing mood.

  29. Keep the design simple in your bathroom renovation and avoid curves, steps, ornate decorative mouldings and non-essential details or ornamentation. The simpler the design, the more cost-effective it will be to fit out.

  30. Use large mirrors to make a small bathroom feel lighter and more spacious – a frameless mirror covering the whole of one wall is very effective. To avoid misting up after showers and baths, fit heated pads behind the mirror

  31. There are many areas to renovate in a house. It greatly depends which of this is your priority. Bathroom renovation is far from a DIY job as professionals will be required to install flooring, fixtures, and plumbing properly.

  32. Hey, thanks for sharing! These thoughts are wonderful – gonna put some of the insights into practice soon ;) Do you think it’s more expensive to start construction or renovation during the pandemic?

  33. Wearing fabrics that suit the weather is of prime importance. In the summer months, a velour set will be too warm. Also, satin sets, though look beautiful, but may not be the best option for summer months.

  34. Wow, your bathroom looks amazing! I love the way you’ve combined modern and traditional elements to create a unique and stylish space. The addition of the hardware to your vanity really brings the room together, and I think the towel hooks are a great touch.

I can understand why you might not be 100% sold on the overhead light, but I think it looks great in the space. And it’s always nice to have a rain shower head to make your showers more enjoyable.

But I have to say, my favorite part of the bathroom is the bathtub caddy tray. I love how it’s practical and stylish at the same time, and the wine glass holder is the perfect touch.
