Room by Room Recap – Den

Next up on the Recap: the den!  This is the room that will mainly be our family room where we watch TV and what not.  Since it only has one window, it feels a lot more cozy that some of the other rooms with lots of windows.  Perfect for watching a movie, which is one of our favorite things to do!

Check out the transformation…

What’s left

  1. Refinish floors
  2. Decorate

If you read this post, you know that this is my least favorite wall color in the house. It’s not awful by any means, but just not the best. In certain light it reminds me of flesh, which is kind of gross.  (You’re welcome for that image!) So this is probably the first room I’ll repaint…but that could be several years.  For now, I’m living with it. Some decorating and a lot more color will go a long ways. You can see my inspiration for the den here.

Room by Room Recap – Formal Living Room

Welcome to the first installment of the Room by Room Recap series!  Let’s kick things off with the formal living room!

I immediately fell in love with the formal living room the minute I saw it.  It was dark and dingy, but had SO much potential.  And that light fixture!  It came from my father-in-law’s side of the family and actually predates electricity.

Here are a few pictures along the way, including the few months that this room became the storage room.  (Some of the pictures were taken with a very old iphone, so the quality isn’t all that great.)

I’d like to get two formal wingback chairs to go opposite the sofa, and I plan to switch out the coffee table and end tables.  I’d also like to get new shades for the vintage crystal lamps.  And of course I need a rug BAD!  You can see my inspiration for this room here.

Coming Up

It’s official.  We are closing on our refinance, and rolling from a construction loan to a mortgage, next Tuesday, April 29! When we started our construction loan on May 10 of last year, we never thought we would get anywhere close to that one-year cut off.  But here we are…making it by just 11 days.  Not quite by the “skin of our teeth” but certainly closer than we had hoped.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year.  It seems like it’s been forever.  Like the way they say it in The Sandlot….FOR…EV…ER.

So to commemorate this special occasion, I’m planning to go through our mega list room by room to show you where we started, what’s been done, and what we still have left to do.  We’ll call it the Room by Room Recap series. Sounds fun, right?

Tomorrow we’ll get started.  Stick around, it’s about to get interesting! :)
