11 Free Apps I Can’t Live Without

A while back I shared 8 FREE apps that I can’t live without. I still (mostly) love all of these, but I’ve got a few to add to the mix. Take a look at my updated list…

It goes without saying that I love my social media apps. But there are a few other apps that make running my life, my blog, and my business so much easier. (Note: these are all iTunes apps, but most have Android and Windows counterparts.)

1. Google Drive

I have a work computer, a home desktop, a laptop, an iPad, and an iPhone. Google Drive helps me keep all my documents with me, no matter what device I’m using. It also makes it easy to share documents and even photos with others.

2. Etsy & Sell on Etsy

The regular version is great for browsing Etsy. If you have a shop and are looking to manage your listings, Sell on Etsy is your best option. Check out my Etsy shop here!

3. Relax Melodies

I go to sleep to this app on many nights. It’s so relaxing, and gives you tons of options. You can even layer the sounds to get the one you’re looking for. Plus, there’s a timer so it cuts off after you’re asleep. My favorite “melodies” are Zen, Medieval, Duduk, Rainy Day, and Slow Waves.

4. Podcasts

I got really into podcasts when I was on the road 2 hours a day. Since my commute is now literally walking across the hall, I haven’t been able to find as much time to listen to them. Now whenever I travel, I use it as an excuse to catch up on my favorites. I, like everyone else, got addicted to Serial, but you can see all of my favorite podcasts here.

5. Buffer

I traded in my Klout app for Buffer after moving to self-employment full time. I found it to be much easier to schedule multiple accounts across multiple social media channels. (Disclaimer: The app is free and the basic Buffer account is free; but to schedule multiple accounts, you’ll need a paid Buffer account.)

6. Evernote

Evernote allows me to not only create lists, but actually check things off…one of my favorite things. I will seriously make a list just to check it off. That’s normal, right?! Grocery lists, blog ideas, meeting notes…it all goes in here. Evernote syncs with all of my devices too, so I can always access my lists.

7. iHandy Level

This one’s pretty self explanatory, but I can’t count the number of times I’ve taken this app out to hang a picture. Genius!

8. Snapseed

I use a few different photo editing apps, but Snapseed is by far my favorite. There are lots of options and capabilities, but it’s very user friendly.

9. Mint Bills

From the company that brought you Quickbooks. This app helps me keep up with all of my accounts, from personal banking to business credit cards to monthly household bills. Charles and I both have the app and it’s especially helpful in sticking to our household budget.

10. Google Maps

702 park project - google maps app

I love my iPhone but let’s be honest..the Apple maps app kind of sucks. If I could delete it, I would. Instead, I use Google Maps for everything. I’ve found it to be SO much more reliable than Apple maps, MapQuest, Yahoo Maps, or any others. (PS – if you’re interested in travel apps, my favorites are GasBuddy, Gogobot, and The Next Exit.)

11. Headspace

702 park project - headspace app

So this one isn’t 100% free, but you can definitely get a lot out of the free part. Headspace is a guided meditation app and you can download it and get their “Take10” for free. Take10 is a set of 10 ten-minute meditations that are guided by a British guy with a really soothing voice. If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, it’s definitely worth your time.

Do you use any of these? What are your can’t-live-without apps?
