Thrifting Lately – 2.16.16

It’s been a while since my last Thrifting Lately post, mainly because I haven’t been scouring my favorite shops as often. After a very big Christmas, we put ourselves on a spending freeze, so unfortunately it’s been all window shopping for this girl!  I have picked up a few small things for the Etsy shop, but nothing for myself.

But window shopping can still scratch the itch. Like this 5 foot tall brass elephant that I saw in the window of a closed shop. I was dying!

I’ve come across some really awesome furniture. It was almost impossible to say no to that hammered metal coffee table, and that settee was giving me its sexy eyes. Wouldn’t it be gorgeous in a bold stripe?! And that bed!  If I had a little girl, that bed would not still be in this shop.

I’m not sure why, but I loved this old photo of these men with their bicycles, but it wasn’t quite worth the price tag to me.

This carpet bag style glider could easily fill a sad corner. And for only $40, a reupholstered project probably wouldn’t break the bank.

Dishes, platters, and vases have been pulling me in lately. Because milk glass is everywhere (Seriously, do you know of a single vintage shop that doesn’t have milk glass?!), I tend to not look twice at it. But lately I’ve been loving this simple style. And brass. Never enough brass.

I also found this genius idea for a DIY tiered stand. Just use high ball glasses to balance glass rounds to display sweets, appetizers, flowers, etc.

I have to admit, I was oddly attracted to these large portraits. Can’t you just see hanging these above our mantels? They would definitely be conversation starters!

I’ve been looking for a few large pieces for the house, like a large table for the foyer and a china cabinet for the dining room. I’ve found a few good options, but just haven’t been able to pull the trigger yet.

And this isn’t a thrifting find, but I definitely looked twice at this sofa with a chaise for only $600 at TJ Maxx. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get more seating into our den, and this might be a good solution.
