You know how many bloggers post gorgeous photos of a designer’s home and everything looks just perfect? Yeah, this isn’t one of those…
Our kitchen has come a long way since its humble beginning, but we’ve still got quite a ways to go. This room is in need to a total gut job, but that will have to wait until the budget allows.
Today I’m offering just a tiny peek into what our kitchen counters actually look like. Are you ready? It’s not pretty.
It’s about the ugliest laminate I’ve ever seen. It’s got stains all over…apparently the previous owners didn’t know what pot holders were.
Plus, we’ve got a rough edge from where we cut off the rounded ends of the peninsula to make room for the fridge.
So there’s my teeny tiny sneak peek. If you come back tomorrow, I’ll be sharing our renovation plans for the kitchen!

Ahhh dingy laminate countertops…who hasn’t found these when they buy an old house?! I wish homeowners would just leave the original finishes in place and skip the 70/80s remodel. Oh well! Can’t wait to see your plans tomorrow!

Sarah I love your honest post about your kitchen – it’s so refreshing! We need to completely gut our kitchen too and I dream about it daily, but until then I keep reminding myself how lucky I am to have running water and tons of food in there (even though my kids keep telling me there’s nothing to eat!) I would trade you my bologna colored countertops for yours! :) Looking forward to seeing your future kitchen plan. We can dream together until our kitchens come true.

Right now I’m in the process of redoing much of my apartment kitchen, so junk. Soon though, it will be decorated.
