Redecorating with Glamista Home

Hello lovely readers of 702 Park Project! I would like to thank Sarah for letting me take over for the day.  My name is Dagmara and I pen for Glamista Home. My blog focuses on making your apartment a space you call home.

Today I wanted to share with you how I restyled my living room with just a few changes here and there. I went from a pretty colorful space with pops of green and blue to a monochromatic look in a very neutral white. Naturally I will be adding and changing a few décor items. I am sure I will be rearranging my decorative accessories around the place, but the majority of pieces and the white theme is put into place.

To redecorate I headed over to one of my favorite stores: West Elm. I am always sure to find just the right pieces that would help me achieve exactly what I am looking to do in my home. Here I picked my pillow cases, trays and glass vases.

When I look to redecorate my strategy is to always make a list of all the things I would like to change. Then I visit the websites of my favorite retailers and create a shopping list for each store. While I am doing this I monitor my budget and select alternative pieces in case the ones I have picked are not exactly what I have hoped for.

I still have a few items I will be getting from Jonathan Adler, HomeGoods, Ikea and ZGallerie, but for now I am pleased with my living room transformation. I like how much more sophisticated and modern the space looks. When you opt for a one-color décor, make sure you go for different shades and textures; it will prevent the room from looking flat and boring.

If you are looking the change your space, look at things such as wall color, pillows, or window treatments. Even your gallery wall can be a source of a “remodel”. Often just a few simple tweaks, rearrangement of furniture, or decorative accessories from different rooms can make a huge impact on the look of a space.

Which room do you like more? Would you prefer the colorful or the neutral décor?

  1. I really like the neutral. I think maybe the turquoise competed too much with your metal tones before. The all white lets the chrome, brass, and gold be the stars of the room.

    1. I feel ya, Nicole! We’ve been trying to remove all “college vibes” from our house. There’s a fine line between mismatched/eclectic and dorm-room hand-me-downs! :)
