This weekend we had the pleasure of touring a few homes in downtown Goldsboro, NC as part of Preservation North Carolina‘s “Preservation Celebration.” Several generous couples, including my in-laws, opened up their beautiful historic homes to share with all of us.
Also on the tour was the Paul Borden House. Pres NC owns the house now, and has done a lot of work to rebuild it after a devastating fire in 2010. Now the house is ready for a buyer to come in and finish the job!

The One Room Challenge started yesterday, and I stayed up until midnight catching up on all of the fabulous plans that these talented designers have laid out. If you’re not familiar, the ORC is an event hosted by Linda at Calling It Home where 20 designers makeover a space from start to finish in just 6 short weeks. You can catch those designers each Wednesday, and anyone else can link up on Thursdays.
When I heard the Challenge was coming up again, I got super excited and started thinking about all of the different spaces I could make over. I thought, I’d love to makeover our dining room with new wallpaper, custom drapes, new dining chairs, a fancy rug…or maybe I’ll tackle the garage, and pour a new floor, install shelving and work stations, and finally get electricity out there…or maybe I’ll work on our master bedroom, which always seems to get neglected.
It’s been a little while since the last Interview with the Designer, and this one is definitely making up for lost time! I’m so so so excited to share a glimpse into Carter Kay Interiors in Atlanta!
With over 30 years of experience, Carter Kay not only has incredible vision for new and old spaces alike; she has a way of describing interiors so that you can almost see and feel them. Seriously, this interview was amazing. So I’ll let Carter take it from here!
