Have a lovely weekend!
I have had a lot on my mind this week, and I felt like one quote just wasn’t enough. So I picked two! :)

Whether you’re building a house, building a relationship, building a career, or whatever else, the best things really are worth the wait. I don’t really buy into the idea that “good things come to those who wait.” I’m more of a “good things come to those who hustle” kind of girl. But there’s a difference between sitting back and waiting for things to happen to you, and waiting for the work you are doing to be complete. And I just know that the extra months, the extra money, the extra stress, and the extra tears will all be worth it when we have a gorgeous home full of love in the end.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in everything going wrong (or at least not going right as planned) in your life. It’s also easy to be so busy planning the future that you forget to enjoy the now. I love this article on eliminating the “I’ll be happy when…” mindset. The truth is that I have so many more blessings right now than I could have ever dreamed of. From now on, I will make a conscious effort to choose joy, each and every day.
Have a happy weekend!! :)

Halloween is officially over, and it’s time to move on to November, the most thankful month of all. As we roll into this first weekend of the month, what are you thankful for?
Tonight we have Monster Bash, the annual Young Professionals Halloween party. What am I dressing up as? You’ll just have to wait and see!! Tomorrow is Jazz on George, an annual jazz festival and chili cook-off. [side note: Charles is judging. hint: he likes it spicy!] Follow me on Instagram to see pictures of the weekend, including our Halloween costumes and some pretty awesome street fare.
Enjoy your weekend–do something fun!! :)

I’m not a very patient person. This is a trait that I am constantly working on, and I’d like to say I’ve improved over the years. But if restoring a foreclosed-upon 111-year-old house won’t test your patience, I don’t know what will!!
This house kind of just started out as a pipe dream. Just two newlywed kids, one still in school and one just out, who felt a tingle when we saw the house. I can’t explain it. We just knew we had to have it. But it seemed impossible that the price would ever be right, or that the bank would ever approve us for the loan. But it was, and they did. Then it seemed impossible that construction would ever start, but it did. So I have to believe that finishing this house is a possibility, even if it seems impossible. Each day I get more and more excited as we take another step towards our forever home!
Have a delightful weekend!! :)
